The Bumbershoot
The purpose of children's ministry at TPC is to give specific thought and attention to the way children grow in their understanding of Christ's Kingdom and what membership in that Kingdom entails.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Drama Camp was a fun-filled week of creativity! The great thing about attending camp in your own city is that you don't have to say good-bye to your new friends! Stay in touch by stopping by the church any day between 9 & 5 just to say hi, get together with new friends you made at camp, worship with us on Sundays at 9:30am, attend children's monthly fellowship events beginning in August with The Drama Camp Movie Premiere! You can stay up to date on the details of all these things by checking the TPC website weekly.

COMMUNITY GARDEN: If you are interested in helping with our new community garden, email Piet Grove. He would love to help your family get involved.

PRAYER GUIDES: If you would like to take part in praying for our Muslim neighbors, we have 30-day prayer guides available on the Missions table outside the main office.

  A THOUGHT FROM YESTERDAY'S PASSAGE:

When Jesus' disciples asked him to teach them how to pray, Jesus gave them the words we know today as "The Lord's Prayer." But then he explained these words with a story. The story was about a man who hears his friend knocking at his door in the middle of the night to ask for food for his company who has arrived unexpectedly.  The man in bed is tired and doesn't want to be bothered, but simply because he doesn't want anyone to think he's not a kind and generous man, he is willing to get up and help. Then Jesus explained: this story involves a man who is still battling his sinful nature and even he longs to show kindness for the sake of his reputation.  God, on the other hand, IS LOVE.  He doesn't just want to show love. He loves to bless his people and give them good gifts. He CHOSE to send His Son to us and give us His Spirit before we even knocked on his door to ask; before we even knew that was what we needed! So then, Jesus is saying, when you pray, remember you are praying to this kind of Father! The kind who has staked his reputation on rescuing His people from sin and death. Ask anything of him knowing that he who takes joy in giving good gifts will provide for your every need.

This week, practice praying like Jesus taught his disciples:

"Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be your Name. Your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our sins, even as we forgive those who sin against us.  Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

CHILDREN'S QUESTIONS & PRAYER REQUESTS:
