The Bumbershoot
The purpose of children's ministry at TPC is to give specific thought and attention to the way children grow in their understanding of Christ's Kingdom and what membership in that Kingdom entails.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:

1. LENTEN GUIDES: We have both family and children's guides for Lent available on the Information Table.  Please feel free to take what is helpful for your household. All are welcome to join our Sunday evening prayer services from  5-5:30 each week during Lent.

2. PALM SUNDAY CHOIR: Any K-5th graders who would like to participate in choir are welcome.  Choir begins Sunday, March 4 and will meet each Sunday from 8:45 - 9:15am before worship, through the month of March. The choir will conclude by introducing a new song to the congregation during worship on Palm Sunday, March 25.

3. RENOVATIONS: If you were at church yesterday, you probably noticed the new doorways. We are in the process of renovating to make the exisiting hallway a true children's wing. Thank you for bearing with us in the mess.

  A THOUGHT FROM YESTERDAY'S SERMON: Luke 9:28-36

Have you ever thought about what character from the Bible you would most like to meet? I think if someone had asked Peter that question, he might have said either Moses or Elijah. He was certainly very excited when he realized they were both standing in front of him on the mountain in this story! He was so excited, in fact, that he suggested to Jesus they simply build some tents and stay right there with them. What do you think was wrong with Peter's suggestion? Wouldn't you have been pretty excited too if you realized some great person you respected from long ago was standing, alive, right in front of you?! The problem was that Peter had not yet recognized that Jesus, who he was with every day, was even better than either Moses or Elijah.  In fact, Jesus was the person, Moses and Elijah's entire lives had been about. As our memory verse this week suggests, Peter was walking with Jesus, but almost like he was sleep-walking. We, just like Peter, need to wake up as we read and study the stories of Scripture so that we see and hear  Jesus in all of them. He is the main character, God's promised Savior, and fixer of all that is broken. And, since He is, we must learn what He was telling both Peter and us: the only path to a home with Jesus, where everything is fixed and we will never have to leave is through His cross. He went into death but came out the other side so that, all who follow him - into death of our own desires - would also follow Him out of death, and live with Him in His forever home.

CHILDREN'S QUESTIONS & PRAYER REQUESTS:

1. What happened to the door of the children's room?

The big children's room, called the Children's Atrium, needed one less door so that we would have more room for storing things for the many different ways we use that room.  Also, taking away the first door means no one can skip past the main door to enter the children's hall.

Children's Questions or prayer requests can be placed in the box on the Children's Table outside the sanctuary.
