The Bumbershoot
The purpose of children's ministry at TPC is to give specific thought and attention to the way children grow in their understanding of Christ's Kingdom and what membership in that Kingdom entails.

  A THOUGHT FROM YESTERDAY'S PASSAGE:

"Get ready! We have company coming."

"Get ready! Its time for school."

Though these 2 commands require different actions, they both require action. When your parents tell you it's time to "get ready" for school, you know that means eat your breakfast, brush your teeth, and put on your school clothes. When you hear that company is coming, that means it is time to stop focusing on other things in order to start focusing all your attention on getting the house cleaned to welcome friends.

Yesterday, when Pastor Brandon taught us God's Word from Luke 12:35-40, we learned that living the Christian life is like getting ready. Being given the name "Christian" and being ones who have committed ourselves to Christ's Kingdom, means we are to be about the business of "getting ready" for our King to return to His world. That means we are to stop focusing on things that don't belong to His Kingdom and start "getting ready" to live in the world as it will be when He returns. So what does "getting ready" for Christ's return look like? Paul tells us in his letter to the Colossians when he says, "Put on as God's chosen ones, holy and dearly loved compassion, kindness, humility, meekness and patience..."

So as we are getting our bodies ready by imitating the character of Christ, we are also getting the house (that is the Earth) ready by filling it with the beauty of Christ.

Are you getting ready for Christ's return or are your working on your own kingdom?

Heavenly Father, by your Spirit, help us to get ready for Your Kingdom to come by putting on all that belongs to Christ and getting rid of all that doesn't.
