The Bumbershoot
The purpose of children's ministry at TPC is to give specific thought and attention to the way children grow in their understanding of Christ's Kingdom and what membership in that Kingdom entails.

A THOUGHT FROM YESTERDAY'S PASSAGE:

Yesterday, we began a new series studying the book of Exodus. You've probably heard at least something about this book before. This is the book of the Bible where we learn how  the Isralites had become slaves in Egypt. But God, because of his promise to Abraham, delivered the Isralites out of slavery and led them into a new land. Whether you have heard this story before or not, there are two very important things to note about it.

First, God always delivers his people. This story of the Isralites being delivered out of slavery in Egypt isn't just an old story. It is something that God allowed to happen in history to show who God is and what it means to be His people.

Second, in this story, we see God teaching his people to trust that he will always deliver them out of dark and scary places. The story in Exodus tells the story God has always been telling - that living life any way other than according to his laws will break things and enslave humanity. But trusting God and following him will always lead to deliverance even if it takes a very long time. In Exodus, the Isralites are delivered from Egypt, but God's biggest story is how he delivers all people in all places who trust in Jesus, from sin and death.

King Jesus, it is easy to trust you when life is going pretty well. Please help me to be patient and trust you also when things seem scary or sad knowing that you have delivered and you have promised to bring all who follow Christ safely into your land where all things work like you intended.
  MEMORY VERSE:
“I will take you to be my people, and I will be your God, and you shall know that I am the Lord your God, who has brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.”                  Exodus 6:7

CHILDREN'S QUESTIONS:
Why did God make the Bible?

The Bible was a generous and kind gift God gave us through ordinary men. God wanted us to know him, to know about his world and how to live in the world in the way that would lead to life that never ends. So, God actually became a man - Jesus - to show us how to live but he also chose ordinary men to write down the story He has been telling from the very beginning so that we would know God and have life with him.
