  A THOUGHT FROM YESTERDAY'S PASSAGE:

In Philppians chapter 2, Paul tells us that all who belong to Jesus are to be of the SAME MIND and the SAME LOVE. Does that mean that when we have disagreements with one another, we just need to draw straws to decide which person gets to be right this time so we can agree? Absolutely not! Paul's command is not simply to agree on a side, but rather to be of the same mind and same love AS CHRIST! So what kind of mindset and love did Christ have?

In verses 6-8, Paul tells us exactly. He had a mind and love that considered us more valuable than himself. That's a pretty big deal! Jesus is God in the flesh and yet, he didn't think about himself or his position. Rather than speak up and tell the Roman soldiers they were wrong, he kept quiet knowing that his death would mean our life! He didn't yell about how right he was, he just kept thinking about how he could bring good things to sinners. This is the mind and love Paul is telling us we are to have and share with each other.

When your parents give you instructions, do you think about how you can obey with a happy heart to bring them joy? When your friends or siblings do something you don't like, do you think about how you can show them love or how you can show them you are right and they are wrong?

Lord Jesus, you gave up EVERYTHING for my good. Please help me to live in a way that shows that same mind and same love to my parents, my siblings, my friends and everyone I see each day.

Click here to read a song you can learn that might help you to think about this as you go through your days. Click here if you would like to hear the music for the song.

Yesterday’s worship training lesson was, “what is worship?” And next week will be “Entering God’s Presence”
CHILDREN'S QUESTIONS & PRAYER REQUESTS:

Q: Why does God give mercy?

A: Because he is merciful! This may sound too simple, but it is true. Just like a dog barks because he is a dog, God gives mercy because it is who God is and what He does.

If you still have questions about this, please feel free to come see me or call me sometime.
